Cotton University through Official Notification dated 23rd February 2023 has notified to accept the online admission form through CUET. Eligible Students should be 10+2 qualified from a recognized board to submit the online admission form through www.cottonuniversity.ac.in within the closing date. How does Cotton University derive Admission Merit List?
Cotton University for the UG programmes will prepare the respective merit lists according to the descending order of the total of :
- The Top three scores of a student among the SCIENCE subjects in the qualifying examination, for admission into BSc Honours courses.
- Top three scores of a student among all the subjects in the qualifying examination (except Physical Education), for admission into BA Honours and BCA courses.
- Top three scores of a student among all the subjects in the qualifying examination, for admission into BA Liberal Arts
The marks obtained in each subject to be considered above will be out of 100, i.e. the Cotton University Merit List 20201will show marks obtained out of the total of 300 marks.

Marks Standardization Process at Cotton University, Guwahati
In case, the Cotton University Admission Department detects a considerable difference in the scoring pattern between the two major boards, viz. AHSEC and CBSE, then Cotton University shall follow a marks standardisation method.
To understand the method of mark standardization, let us go through an example –
Suppose as per merit list calculation method, 𝑨 and 𝑪 are the highest marks for HS candidates under AHSEC and candidates under CBSE respectively. Then CU shall define the Index Factor F as the number 𝑪/𝑨, therefore, the standardised mark of the HS student under AHSEC is calculated by the formula 𝑴 × 𝑭, where 𝑴 is the total marks of that student derived for the merit list.
Note: For all Boards/ Councils other than AHSEC, the index factor shall be 1.
