WB Excise SI Examination Pattern | Method of Recruitment

Selection of Sub-Inspector and Lady Sub-Inspector of Excise under Govt. of West Bengal would be to be conducted by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board (WBPRB) on the basis of

  • Preliminary Written Examination,
  • Physical Measurement Test (PMT),
  • Physical Efficiency Test (PET),
  • Final Combined Competitive Examination and
  • Personality Test

Preliminary Written Examination:

Preliminary Written Examination shall be conducted to screen candidates for the Physical Measurement Test & Physical Efficiency Test. Marks obtained in the Preliminary Written Examination shall not be counted for the purpose of determining the final merit list. Duration of the examination will be 1½ hours with full marks of 200 having MCQ based questions. As per the notification, Preliminary Written Examination will either be an OMR based examination or computer-based on-line examination (CBT) depending on the number of applicants. Preliminary Written Examination will be held on the following subjects having MCQ based questions on –

  • General Knowledge & Current Affairs: 20 Questions (40 Marks)
  • Test of Language (Bengali/Nepali): 20 Questions (40 Marks)
  • English: 20 Questions (40 Marks)
  • Elementary Mathematics: 20 Questions (40 Marks)
  • Reasoning: 20 Questions (40 Marks)

 

Physical Measurement Test (PMT):

Candidates who have cleared the preliminary examination will be called for PMT & PET. The standards of the PMT on which candidates will be checked are given below

Physical Efficiency Test (PET):

After clearing the physical measurement Test, candidates’ will have to clear the Physical Efficiency test or PET. It will be conducted in this manner

  • Male candidates: Long distance run of 800 meters in 3(three) minutes.
  • Female candidates: Long distances run of 400 meters in two minutes.

Final Combined Competitive Examination:

Qualified candidates of the PMT & PET candidates will be eligible to appear for the Final Combined Competitive Examination on the date as decided by West Bengal Police Recruitment Board. The examination will be a conventional type examination having three papers on the following subjects

Personality Test:

Candidates who are selected merit wise on the basis of the performance of Final Combined Competitive Examination will be summoned to appear at the Personality Test. Final merit shall be prepared on the basis of the collective performance in both the Final Combined Competitive Examination and Personality Test.
