Eligibility of the Excise Sub Inspector Posts depends upon Educational Qualification and Physical Fitness Test and also age criteria of the candidates applying for the posts. Age Limit Criteria
Firstly, applied candidates should be an Indian Citizen. She/he should be at least 20 years and not more than 27 years as on 01.01.2024. Upper age limit relaxed to candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes in the following manner-
- For Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes by 5 years
- For Other Backward Classes by 3 Years
Required Educational Qualification

WB Excise SI Recruitment 2024 Selection Process
West Bengal Police Recruitment will conduct the recruitment of Sub Inspector of Excise including Lady Excise Sub Inspector through the following stages of exams or Tests mentioned below. Every candidate who desires to become an Excise Sub Inspector has to clear the following exams or tests to make it in the final selection.
- Preliminary Written Examination
- Physical Measurement Test (PMT) & Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
- Final Combined Competitive Examination
- Personality Test
WB Excise SI Preliminary Exam Scheme
West Bengal Excise SI Preliminary Written Examination shall be conducted to screen candidates for the Physical Measurement Test & Physical Efficiency Test. Marks obtained in the Preliminary Written Examination shall not be counted for the purpose of determining the final merit list. The Preliminary Written Examination will be held on the following subjects having MCQ based questions on –

WB Excise SI Physical Efficiency Test Details
After clearing the physical measurement Test, candidates’ will have to clear the Physical Efficiency test or PET. It will be conducted in this manner-

| Female candidates | Long distances run of 400 meters in two minutes |
WB Excise SI Final Exam Pattern
Qualified candidates of the PMT & PET candidates will be eligible to appear for the Final Combined Competitive Examination on the date as decided by West Bengal Police Recruitment Board. The examination will be a conventional type examination having three papers on the following subjects

Final merit shall be prepared on the basis of the collective performance in both the Final Combined Competitive Examination and Personality Test.
