Actually, from this academic year Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) shall conduct a Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to Class 11 for First Year Junior College (FYJC). MSBSHSE announced and conducted Common Entrance Test for FYJC is not mandatory for any student. Since, the Class 10 Passed will surely get a FYJC seat in any of the educational Institutes, but the first priority in admissions would be given to candidates who have appeared for the CET. The Board will allot a score to the CET qualified candidates which will be referred for admission.
The Maharashtra FYJC CET will be an OMR based Entrance Test with Syllabus as per SSC. Further the applicants shall be able to select the exam centres. More on this on the section below.
Why Students need to appear for Maha FYJC CET 2021?
The FYJC admissions in Maharashtra would take place in phases and in the first phase admissions will be given to the candidates as per merit in CET, irrespective of any board. Post their admissions, students who had not opted for CET will be given admissions based on Class X merit.
Mode of Maharashtra FYJC CET & Exam Pattern
Maharashtra FYJC CET 2021 will be held offline and students need to go to designated exam centres to appear for the test. This will be a 100 marks multiple choice question format exam and its duration would be two hours. Also the CET will be an objective, multiple-choice exam based on the Class X, SSC syllabus. The Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) based question paper will have questions from four subjects i.e. English, Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences subjects, with each subject carrying 25 per cent weightage of marks.
