Kendriya Vidyalaya Eligibility for Admission into different Classes
A Child must be 5 years old as on 31st March in the academic year in which admission is sought for Class I. (Child born on 1st April should also be considered.)

How does Admission Take Place in KV’s ?
Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan undertakes the whole admission process for the KV’s across the Country. The admission process according to the classes are different Hence, the Class Wise Admission Rules are discussed below for reference.
Admission to Class 1
Out of the available seats of fresh admission 25% shall be reserved for Right To Education (‘RTE’), 15% shall be reserved for SC, 7.5% shall be reserved for ST and 27% seats shall be reserved for “OBC- Non Creamy Layer”.
The following sequence is to be adopted for the fresh admissions to Class-I in Kendriya Vidyalayas from the academic session 2022-23 and onwards.
- First Lot: 10 seats (out of 40 seats) in Class I per section are to be filled as per RTE Provisions (25% of seats) and these 10 seats will be filled by draw of lots from all applications of SC/ST/EWS/BPL/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) /Differently abled taken together who are the resident of Neighbourhood.
- Second Lot: Lottery for Differently Abled candidates of SC/ST/OBCNCL/Unreserved is to be conducted as per Priority Category.
The result of seats in KV’s are filled as per Priority Category rules in force.
Admission to Class 2 to 8
Admission test shall not be conducted for admission to Class 2 to 8 and the admission may be granted based on Priority Category system . If applications are more than the number of seats, lottery system
will be followed in each category including single girl child quota (Class VI Onwards).
Admission to Class 9
For admission to Class 9, an admission test shall be conducted and a merit list will be prepared for each category of priority separately. The Admission shall be granted in the sequence of priority categories, in the order of merit. Important Features of the Admission Test is as follows –
- Admission test shall be conducted in the subjects: Hindi, English, Maths, Social Science and Science.
- There will be only one paper of Admission test of 3 Hours duration & 100 marks comprising Hindi, English, Maths, Social Science and Science each of 20 marks.
- Candidates must secure 33% marks in aggregate to qualify. Students belonging to SC/ST/Divyang category (PH) will be eligible for admission on securing 25% in aggregate.
Admission to Class 11
Admission in different streams viz Science, Commerce, Humanities of Class 11 in KVs for KV students will be based on aggregate marks scored in class X exams as under-

Note: If seats remain vacant in class XI even after admitting the children of KV/ neighboring KVs then the admissions to non – KV children may be granted on the same criteria, in the sequence of categories of priority.
Preference for Admission in Kendriya Vidyalayas
Many guardians have a misconception that Kendriya Vidyalaya allows admission only for the Central Govt employee wards. But the fact is that KVS allows admission for others also. Regarding the preference order of admission to KV’s , that chart below has the explanation for the parents.

KVS Admission 2022 Online Registration Process
The guardian who want to get their child admitted into KVS Class 1 must complete the online registration within the deadline. The Applicants should NOT submit multiple applications to the same Vidyalaya for the same child. If multiple registration forms are submitted for the same child in the same Kendriya Vidyalaya, only the last application will be considered in admission process. Now, in order to ensure smooth and quick filling of the application form, please keep the following ready:
- A valid mobile number with Indian SIM card.
- A valid email address.
- A digital photograph or scanned photograph of the child seeking admission (JPEG file of size at most 256KB).
- A scanned copy of the child’s birth certificate (JPEG or PDF file of size at most 256KB),
- Details of government certificate in case you are applying under economically weak section,
- Transfer details of parent/grandparent whose service credentials will be used in the application.
Steps of Application for KVS Class 1 Registration
Time needed: 10 minutes

- Step 1: Registration
For the first time user, she/he needs to register or sign-up in the portal by providing the child details.
- Step 2: Re-logging to Portal after Registration
Login to the admission application portal, the following information must be provided exactly as given during registration.
- Step 3: Filling up the Admission Form & uploading documents
The admission application form is divided into 5 sections, each organized and presented under a separate tab. The following are the different section/tab headings:

The applicant need to fill up each tab carefully and submit the application. - Final Step : Form Submission
Once the applicant confirm the form submission, an OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number of the applicant. On entering the OTP correctly on the portal, an Application Submission Code will be generated and displayed on the screen. It will also be sent by SMS to the registered mobile number. An email with this information will also be sent to the registered email address.
